OMG

The I-35 bridge across the Mississippi in Minneapolis collapsed this evening. I don't know how many times I drove across it when we lived in Minneapolis. Eerie.

It'll be interesting to hear how they reconstruct the evidence to figure out what happened, and how they might change regs to help prevent it happening in the future.

Wednesday's lessons:

Dynamics is more fun, but statics is important!

Engineers, take your jobs seriously, our lives are in your hands.

Life is fragile, do all the physics you can while you have the chance!

Dan's okay. I called him as soon as I heard. Hope all your Minnesota-borne acquaintances are all right.

It was good to hear that Dan is OK. Sounds like his mom commutes that way - or used to - but got thru before the collapse.

Most the people I still know in Mpls are academics, and we academics can usually avoid rush hour. It's a perk.
