National Recognition - Pretty Cool

Wednesday's mail brought me the new AIP Report of Enrollment and Degrees. The American Institute of Physics periodically reports statistics on physics majors, such as the fact that one in every 280 bachelor's degree recipients in this country is a physics major. Cool, huh?

Well, no, that's not the cool part. The cool part is that Augustana was not just a statistic, but got its name in the report. At the top of page 9, they list all bachelor's-only departments graduating 10 or more physics bachelors per year. There's Augustana College (IL) at 11. There are only 35 schools on the list -- in the whole country!

P.S. The only other school from Illinois on the list is Illinois State.
