We Have a Boat!

Actually, we don't have a boat, but we have a plan.

A few students and alums and I met Sunday to work on a design for our cardboard boat for the Homecoming Regatta*. We think we've got a good design that can hold 300-400 pounds. We also named the boat ( a very important step that we would not want to forget): "Schroedinger's Boat." I guess we won't know if it is dead or alive until we race it.

What's next? Well, we need three things:

1) Cardboard. If you have any big boxes or large sheets of cardboard or poster mailing tubes, bring them to the advanced lab or physics club room.

2) Crew. Anyone want to claim fame and glory by rowing Schroedinger's Boat to victory? We could use two people for our crew.

3) Boat builders. We will start working on actually building the boat this Thursday at 11:30 (regular physics club time). Meet in Science 120. Don't wear anything you will mind getting glue all over (and we're not talking Elmer's washable school glue, either:-)

*Homecoming is October 27th. I think the cardboard boat races start about 10 am.

Awww, I had a family party so I couldn't make it. But I would like to tell you my secret hiding places to find tons a cardboard. You can possibly go to the recycling bins in Moline behind Ben Franklin crafts, but behind Ben Franklin itself has a bin just for card board. I'm sure some other places might have it (possibly post offices, etc) but I would definitely check there.
