Happy Solstice!
The winter solstice, or the official astronomical beginning of winter, occurs at 8 minutes after midnight tonight (CST). The sun's southward march makes an instantaneous halt, then it begins to move back northward in the sky. The days will also start getting longer (good thing, too. It's getting dark as I write this at 4:30!)
BTW, the full moons will begin to rise more and more southward in the sky - always opposite the sun, to reflect its light toward us.
