Exciting Times!
Sometimes I have nothing to blog about, and other times, I have so much to say!
On Thursday, I found out:
a) that the physics club got fully funded by the SGA - yay!
b) that the physics club was selected as an SPS Outstanding Chapter for the 2007-08 academic year - yay again!
c) that the Putnam Museum is having a bridge-building competition tomorrow (Sat, Feb 6). Luckily they were still accepting applications. The physics club has registered a team - they could use one more, if you want to join them! The competition lasts from noon to 6pm, but I'm sure you could stop by for a short while to see what's up. Or just come at the end to see the physics club with their award!! Go team APES!
And don't forget the Physics of Toys Open House on Sunday. Lots of demos of fun toys from slinkies to wind-up cars to clicky magnets, and, of course, bubbles. Come join us. We could use some help. Or bring any kids you know - that's what we're here for!
Then next week Mon-Thur we will have our Valentines bakesale and physically-attractive T-shirt sale. Don't forget to bake delicious goodies to sell! I have started already. I promise not to eat them all by Monday. I was thinking we ought to make our physically attractive scarecrow/snowman into a cupid for the occasion, butI have no idea how. Anyone more creative than I have any ideas?
Thursday will be the last physics club meeting of the term. Let's get planning for next term. And come up with a T-shirt idea.
Then on Friday Jess and Jake and maybe Adam are going to the AAPT meeting in Chicago. Jess will be presenting about our outreach. You tell 'em Jess!
That weekend (Feb 13-15) is the QC Elite robotics team's demonstration days at the Southpark Mall - anyone up for watching a robot pretend it's on the moon? I need to find out the hours that they will be there, but it should be fun.
Then finals week, and on Thursday of finals week, we have an outreach request to present at the Science Night at George O. Barr Elementary School in Silvis.
Wow - busy, busy!
