Homecoming Win!

Schroedinger's Boat is a winner, as are our crew of Gabe Caceres and Jim van Howe!

The boat was really fast (check out the wake!), and dominated all three races in the single-elimination mixed-gender division bracket. For winning the mixed-gender division, the club won $50 - yay! More pizza? More blog contest prizes?

After the division races, the men's, women's, and mixed-gender division winners raced each other. Unfortunately, Schroedinger's Boat had taken on some water and was getting a little soggy. Our team started with a lead, but the soggy nose of the boat bent to the side, making the boat veer to the right. Because of the steering problems, our boat took a longer trip to the finish line, and thus was beat out by the KT boat.*

After this fourth race, Schroedinger's Boat's wavefunction collapsed completely. Unlike the Heisenberg, we won't be able to run the same boat two years in a row. But, we're already planning for next year. If you happen by room 107, check out the cardboard tubes I scavenged when they delivered new rugs and furniture for the science building entry.

Oh, and I have one more team T-shirt, a large, it reads, "We Have a Boat!" First to claim it here in the comments can have it!

More photos and videos at http://helios.augustana.edu/~cv/ph%20club/2007boat/ Notice in all the videos but the last one, you don't see any other boats nearby - that's how dominant it was!

*Yes, Kristen and Rose's traitor boat ;-)
