Physics Club Meeting Minutes, 9/20/11

Physics Club Meeting Minutes from the 9/20/11 meeting, thanks to Natalie

Apple Picking
Was postponed from last Sunday due to weather. So we're meeting this Sunday (9/25) at 11:30 from Hanson 120 so as not to miss the all-important football game. (Go Bears)

Longfellow Science Night
Is still happening at Longfellow Elem. Sept 22. Setup begins at 5:30 and it goes until 7.
The same attendees from last week: A^2, Peter and Steve.
Demos: Pig reflection (which Dr. Frank says his kids loved-good sign), ring launcher, wheel/weights platform. Sadly we can't do anything with liquid Nitrogen.
In related news, Henry's first grade class is in need of some demos on energy and force and motion. Dr. Frank thought physics club would be ideal for the job.

T-Shirt
Progress is being made! Stuart is almost done with design and G should be getting an estimate.
The Augustana font isn't quite right but talking to Joe may be able to fix that problem. They will be Augie blue with yellow "Augustana Physics" letters and white equations. The back may include E=(MC Hammer complete with his iconic pants)^2, though the inaccuracy in the equation bothered the physics student in all of us.

Homecoming
We need to build a boat for the cardboard regatta. Steve's from last year is falling apart, apparently, but this year we are allowed rope and staples. Lassos were discussed as a means of looking cool and/or cheating. If it will be finished, Stuart and Gee have been volun-told they will be the riders due to their relatively small body mass, with Peter as the alternate.

Other
We took a classy group photo in front of the clock....because we forgot at our first two meetings.
Ahmed was late by 31 minutes, yet another data point for our possible Gaussian.
