Awesome Fireworks!
(Updated with links to my photos and videos)
The fireworks training and show yesterday was awesome fun!
First was the training, which consisted to a large extent of safety training - gruesome stories of what not to do!
After that we got to help set up the fireworks show. Some of us got to dig holes for mortars, some of us got to fill sandbags to stabilize the racks and mortars, some of us got to build fire balls. OK, who had the best job??Then came a picnic catered by Jess. It was delicious after we stopped thinking about all the infectious diseases she had been describing. Eating with a bio major or a bio prof can be an issue sometimes!
Finally the show - it was awesome! Dr Renneke has some great pictures and videos up at the club site. I took some photos and videos, too, which I will have up soon. I promise!
The shows we get aren't the biggest and longest shows I've seen, but they are really cool, you get to be really close (within the safety restrictions, of course), and you get to see explosions made by someone you know!
